For these several years HACER has been funded on a shoestring with help from a few donors and a dedicated editor volunteering his time for less than the minimum wage.
HACER has grown to become the pre-eminent site for bi-lingual news on Latin America . We now get over a million and a half hits per month and have a mailing list in the dozens of thousands. Our readers include top scholars, businessmen, think tank activists, students, diplomats and policy makers.
Our country pages offer weekly updates on all that is happening in every Latin American nation. Conferences which we help organize and promote offer key networking and educational opportunities.
But we can’t continue without some financial help. We owe on our office rent, we must pay our editor and small staff a living wage. We are trying to raise $50,000 from our readers. We ask that you consider donating $40 per year for your access to the site and for the weekly updates which you receive. Is the HACER report worth 3 dollars a month?
If you can afford a few hundred or thousand dollars it will make up for those who do not contribute.
The United States and Latin America should be the key economic alliance for these troubled times in the rest of the world as trade protectionism is growing. We all need to work together for the uniting of North and South America into a content and mutually prosperous economic union. HACER needs help to continue and expand its unique role informing and promoting free markets and freedom.
