Seminar organized by IAF (Internationale Akademie für Führungskräfte), section from The Friedrich Naumann Foundation
Instituto Liberdade, represented by its members, Eduardo Gil Carreira and Fábio Ostermann, are attending this event.
This twelve day seminar for young political party and NGO activists/leaders aims at a thorough review of the development, character and functions of these organizations, their importance for liberal democracy and their potential synergy.
Date: 18 – 30 July 2010
Venue: Gummersbach
Field Trips: Cologne, Weimar, Dresden, Erfurt
The seminar starts off with participants reporting in a regional context on current party and NGO structures in their countries. This part forms the information basis of the seminar and allows the participants to get to know their fellow-participants and the respective political, economic and social framework conditions.
After this introduction history, typology, structure, legitimacy and mission and mandates of NGOs and Political Parties on national and international level will be analyzed, laid out and compared. Mutual images and expectations will be explored and investigated in plenary and work group sessions. Here the seminar provides the opportunity to question common
stereotype and prejudice, aiming at a sober and more informed picture of these important organizations and their place and role in civil society and politics. Once this survey has been finished, scope and possible sectors and instruments of potential cooperation between NGOs and Political Parties can be researched and indicated.
Target Group: Young party and NGO activists, preferably a party and a NGO representative (two from each country) |
